Gastroschisis is a congenital (birth) defect of the abdominal wall in which the baby's intestines, and sometimes other abdominal organs, protrude from the belly through a small hole. Colorado's rates of gastroschisis reflect this increasing trend. In 1994, the prevalence rate was 2.78 per 10,000 live births, and increased to 3.54 per 10,000 live births in 2011. In Colorado, the NBCCEDP funded program is Women's Wellness Connection (WWC). WISEWOMAN provides NBCCEDP clients with access to additional preventive health services, including screenings for cardiovascular disease risk factors, referrals for medical evaluation, and lifestyle programs.

Today's farmers and Agricultural workers are exposed to many on-the-job hazards, which result in a death rate five times greater than all other industries averaged together. Nealy half of the fatalities involve tractors. By using a ROPS and seat belt, and not allowing passengers on the tractor at any time, a very large portion of all tractor related deaths can be prevented.

Immunization coverage is reported through two measures: in compliance and up to date. In compliance with the Colorado School Immunization Law is defined as being up to date for all required immunizations, having taken a valid exemption, or being in process (having a plan in place with the school to obtain any remaining required immunizations). Up to date is defined as being appropriately immunized for all required immunizations.

In Colorado, it is estimated that there are over 1,600 students who have been diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Research has shown that intensive management of diabetes helps decrease the long-term complication of the disease. Students with diabetes require special management of their health care needs at school to allow them to access the same educational opportunities as their peers and to keep them safe at school.
